Home

A simple word.. yet invokes so many memories and makes us yearn to go home. What makes a house a "home" - Is it our family members and the bonding with them? Is the the concentration of all your personal articles in one place? Or Is it because the place has seen our happy times as well as not-so-happy times and the events that happened over a period of time which makes it so comforting? I guess its everything together.. a special place where we spend good amount of time with people who matter to us, and make it our own in many small ways. But I wonder about those who move out of their homes and live far away in foreign land.. Will we ever be able to create that special place here? If we succeed in doing that, will it occupy the spot for "home" in our minds ?

The answers could be different for different people.. But end of the day Home is where Heart is!

Poem of the Day - The Summer Day

This is one of my fav. poems, by Mary Oliver. It starts with a simple observation, something very common we see everyday and ends with a big question. Whenever I read this poem, I imagine a little girl in yellow dress with her big curious eyes.. sitting in a vast grassland under a bright blue sky and thinking about the world, swan and grasshopper. And I get reminded of the carefree and blessed days of my childhood. I am sure most of us can relate to this picture, to the infinite number of questions in our heads while growing up..some answered, some unanswered, some just forgotten.

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

A Fresh Start

The very first post of my very first blog - "eclectic-talks". I chose this title to roughly summarize the nature of this blog.. I intend to write about different things and not stick to any one topic. So far I have only written in my personal diary, now its time to put some thoughts across for whoever is interested in reading and hope that some day in future my writing could make a positive impact in someone's life or at least bring a smile and make someone's day! Feels exciting to be part of the ever growing blogging community, I hope to write more and share more with everyone through this blog. Happy reading my posts!
