Cloud Bubbles

On my way to Union Square, I decided to get off from the train a stop before and walk few blocks. As soon as I came out of the station, I saw lot of people looking up and taking pics of the sky. The sky was so pretty with clusters of clouds, they looked like small bubbles bonded together. I was reminded of the movie UP, in which the clouds create the babies of all living beings and send them to earth. Cute movie! Good that I had my camera with me, I took a few shots out of which just this one came out OK.

Big Apple Street Fairs

One of the great things about New York is the street fairs which happen almost every week at different locations. Sometimes they are more ethnic, but mostly have shops selling all kinds of things from all around the world (or so they claim :)). You can find lot of stuff from colorful scarves to silk skirts, from African style masks to chinese dolls, from imposter sunglasses to homemade soaps, from my fav. roasted corn to fresh fruit juices.. and so on. And yeah, if you know how to bargain.. this is a good place to give it a shot!

Last weekend I had been to Times Square to watch the movie UP in 3D with one of my friends. Later we went to the street fair nearby, this ones is the biggest I have seen so far from Bryant Park on 42nd st upto Central Park. We had roasted corn with lemon juice, sugar powder coated fried oreos (can't beat that!) and walked all the way to the other end. It was great checking out all the cool stuff put up for sale. I wish I had taken more cash with me so I could have bought more stuff.. whether I need them or not is a different Q!

Sad Day

Some days start and end well, some days just go by and some other days bring so much turbulence that you wish those days didn't happen. It is surely one such unfortunate day when tragedy struck Air France Flight 447 flying from Brazil to Paris. Four hours after take off, the crew lost all contacts and the flight was considered "lost". Now they found debris in Atlantic Ocean along the flight's original route, which could be from the flight. It is just heart wrenching to think about it, my heart just goes to all the people on board and their loved ones. The thing worse than facing a tragedy is the uncertainty around the tragedy. I wonder what horrible images must be going through the minds of the friends and family of all victims. If only the flight took off late, if only whatever happened didn't happen, if only the crew was able to land someplace safe.. so many ifs which didn't happen sadly.

We, the human race claim to have made so many advancements and discoveries. Yet, there are times like these when we are so helpless. We would do anything to go back in time and save all those people.. but all we can do now is think of everyone who was on board and say a silent prayer. And wish this never happens again...
